GiggedUp, which launched yesterday, is a social site for posting video job interviews. Users create profiles, post their resume in up to four different formats, add a list of skills and languages spoken, and request endorsements from friends. You can also link to your profiles on LinkedIn, YouTube and MySpace, as well as your personal website. Other profile sections include your target salary and your profile stats (how many users have visited your page). The unique feature, of course, is the ability to upload a video interview - put on your shirt and tie, record yourself answering a series of interview questions and add it to your GiggedUp profile. If you're an employer, you can post a video about the job vacancy you have available. You can see the founder's profile page and video here, but you'll need to be logged in. For job candidates, GiggedUp is always free. For employers, meanwhile, there's a charge of $265 for each vacancy you post - according to GiggedUp, that compares to $650 on, $145 on LinkedIn, $489 on CareerBuilder and $25 on Craigslist.

It should be the day the vacancy closes but it can vary. You are applying to multiple jobs with different closing dates. That makes three independent variables, none of which you have control over. Do you still want to roll the dice? I keep Word copies of ALL my tailored resumes regardless of which system: USAJobs, CPOL, DONHR to facilitate either rapid upload or rapid cut and paste. I haven't applied to a CPOL job in about 4 months but when last I did, I always used a Word version of my resume to cut and paste to modify as necessary. That is a separate issue from trying to time the modification so that the resume you want to be pulled for a specific vacancy is in fact pulled. If the dates you are juggling are far apart then by all means tailor away. If not, I still think your best bet is to have more info not less. Looking at CPOL now and there's 4 jobs Admin Assistant (AO), Computer Assistant, Program Administrator, and Program Support Assistant that all end in the next 5 days that I want to apply for so I might as well just put all the info in and tailor it to all 4 jobs.
Show that you're willing to listen, learn and grow by mentioning new information that you've learned during your interview. You might say that you were surprised to hear about a certain aspect of the job or company, but are excited by the challenges it presents. Address any potential concerns. If your interviewer expresses any concerns about your qualifications or experience, don't shy away from responding. Instead, address them directly, and respectfully reiterate why you think you're a good fit for the job, as well as why you truly want it. Speak specifically to your interviewer's message. During your interview, jot down a few of the key components of your interviewer's message about the company – whether it's their mission, their culture, or their goals for growth. Talk directly about how you would fit in or meet a given need. After the closing statement In addition to nailing your closing statement, be sure to follow up with your interviewer after the fact. It's a good idea to send a thank you note or email after the interview.
